Job Description
Located in the Department of Community Mental Health - White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this position acts as a support specialist responsible for assisting in policy and procedure implementation of various programs in the field of children’s community mental health, and acting as a primary liaison between DCMH and Westchester County School Districts. This position is responsible for oversight of the intensive children’s mental health service provision process including monitoring of DCMH referral, linkage, systems navigation, and reporting processes. Other responsibilities include monitoring, developing, and planning children’s mental health program related activities, oversight of the Westchester County Committee on Special Education (CSE) Initiative, contracts, or payments to the assigned service. Supervision may be exercised over a small number of support staff. Does related work as required.
Required
A Bachelor’s degree and either:
(a) two years of experience in the delivery of children’s mental health services; or
(b) two years of experience directly involved with the assessment and/or coordination of mental healthcare services for children and families.
Substitutions
A Master’s degree in a mental health clinical discipline, mental health administration, public or business administration, public health, healthcare administration, education, or a professional mental health discipline, may be substituted for the above experience at the rate of 30 credit hours per year.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York, in good standing, will be required at the time of appointment, and maintained for the duration of the title.
Notes
- The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek.
- Verified and documented volunteer (unpaid) experience will only be credited when specifically allowed by the job description or examination announcement.
Special Notes
Education beyond the secondary level must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
